Erasmus+ Funded Internship
Are you currently in training or have you recently completed your apprenticeship? Take the opportunity for a European Union-funded internship through the Erasmus+ program at our Center for Applied Sustainability, Finca Encuentro, in Tenerife, Spain.
The Internship
For us, the community spirit comes first, and we believe that everyone can contribute something positive. That’s why we offer project-based internships, allowing you to apply the skills from your training and bring in your own ideas. At the same time, we support and guide you in implementing your project.
At the beginning of your internship, we will define a project together that contributes to our sustainable Finca and aligns with your skills and interests. We follow the principle that your own motivation is the best foundation for learning new skills, so we want to involve you in selecting your project.
Examples of possible projects include:
- Development of a Food Forest/Agroforestry System
- Construction of a biological greywater filter for water treatment and reuse of wastewater
- Seasonal projects in permaculture, agriculture, and gardening
- Business Development: Marketing, social media, and research on sustainability topics
- Expansion of our ecological and regenerative agriculture for vegetable sales
- Transformation of a water tank into a functional ecosystem
- Optimization of our irrigation system
- Regeneration of fallow agricultural land into fertile and usable soil
- Art project for visually integrating our infrastructure with the natural environment
- Production of ecological and sustainable fertilizers
- Carpentry work or renovation/restoration of an antique Canarian house
- Design and implementation of a circular water system, including cascades (mini waterfall) and the creation of an ecological microcosm
- Design and installation of vertical wall greening
- Parking lot transformation: Greening of this barren area and integration into the local ecosystem
- Nutritional science: Preservation of our agricultural products through techniques such as cooking, pickling, and fermenting
- Chef/Cook: Preparation and design of menus using ingredients from our own organic cultivation
- Other projects are possible upon request
Internships are possible from a minimum of 2 weeks up to one year.
Requirements
- You are at least 18 years old and currently in training or have completed your training within the past year.
- Other than that, only your motivation is required!
- Preferably, you are in a craft or manual trade, but other vocational fields are also possible upon arrangement.
What We Offer
- An internship with intensive support and numerous opportunities for individual participation and contribution.
- A sustainable stay with a low ecological impact, as well as an introduction to permaculture and sustainable practices.
- Accommodation in our classic Canarian house (single or shared rooms).
- Freshly prepared organic lunch every workday (Mon-Fri) with ingredients from our own farm.
- Fresh organic fruits and vegetables from our own cultivation – our garden is always available for self-service.
- Sports equipment, such as surfboards, yoga mats, volleyballs, etc., to actively enjoy your free time.
- Social activities: We are usually between 7 and 15 people at the finca, creating a diverse and lively social environment. We also regularly organize events such as pizza nights, paella evenings, or salsa workshops.
- Workshops: If you’re interested, we offer workshops on permaculture, our story, sustainability topics, and much more.
Funding via Erasmus+
We cooperate with the Federal Association for Sustainability ( Bundesvereinigung Nachhaltigkeit – BVNG ) so that you can receive funding through the Erasmus+ program of the EU. Accommodation costs can be covered by the funding, meaning no expenses for you. We assist you with the application process, keeping your administrative effort to a minimum.
